In terms of sports, 2022 is a complicated year for “tricolor” handball players Andrea and Vlad Rotaru. But this year they will remember him for the rest of their lives. They will become parents in the fall.
Vlad Rotaru, from shock to “the most beautiful moment”
The axis of the national team discovered the news that he would be a father upon his return from the “Three Colors” camp. He admits that he did not expect such news, but the joy that followed was priceless.
“I received the news after returning from training with the national team. It was a shocking moment for me, but it was the most beautiful moment ever.” says the handball player.
Even the distance between them (playing CSM Bucharest and Andreea for Gloria Buzau) will not be an obstacle as a performance for future parents. Although it is not easy for them, since they met 9 years ago, they always had to accept it.
“It is hard and very difficult because we depend on each other’s schedule. Now we are used to it, we are moving forward.” Vlad Rotaru also said.
“We have always supported each other, Vlad is my number one support. Every time we were there, for each other, we were able to give a kind word when needed.” He completed his wife Andrea.
Andrea Takes Lessons From Denisa Dido
For a performance athlete, the news that she is going to become a mother and that her life will change drastically is often a blow. Not for Andrea Rotaru. The handball player already has a typical mother. She gave birth to fellow national teammate Denisa Dido at the end of last year and gave her answers to all her questions.
“Denisa and I have been friends since I was 14, and I started sharing with her all her experiences as a new mom. I always ask him questions and tell him everything related to this period,” Andrea says.
The two handball players have already chosen the name of their first child. Her name will be Evelyn Iwana, and her parents hope they will follow in her footsteps. If you do not choose handball, then this is not the end of the country, and the little girl will have her full support.
“If he has an appeal for sports, he will definitely get our guidance. We will help her with advice and everything she needs to live a healthier life,” Vlad explained.
Andrea Rotaru will miss Romania’s qualifying matches for the European Commission this year
Andrea Rotaru, who is four months pregnant, who also plays from the position of the national team, will not be able to participate in this year’s European Championship qualifiers. The athlete wants to get back on the field as soon as possible, but until then, she keeps her grip on her teammates from the national team.
“The national team looks very good, I was there and saw how it is, the team is very united, the girls really want to get to every tournament. Those are two very tough matches, everyone knows, but the girls will do very well and without emotions will qualify for the next final.”
And I want to go back to handball. It’s the sport I’ve been playing for many years, and I don’t know how to do anything else.” “Tricolor” says Andrea Rotaru.
Romania will play on April 20 and 24, at home with the Faroe Islands, and with Austria in Ramenko Valcía, in the European Championship qualifiers. So far, the Adi Vasili girls have had only one group win, with the Faroe Islands, and a tie with Austria.
The top representative lost both matches with Denmark, and the North secured their presence in the 2022 European Nations Cup. Thus, Romania is forced to win the two matches with the Faroe Islands and Austria to be in the final tournament.
The men’s team returned its goal
Romania’s men’s handball team, which also includes Vlad Rotaru, missed out on qualification for next year’s world championships in Poland and Sweden and set a new goal – to qualify for the 2024 European Championship.
In order to reach the final tournament, they will face representatives of Austria, Ukraine and the Faroe Islands. The future father is optimistic and believes that Romania will be present at the European Nations Cup.
“I think we were a little lucky in the draw, but in principle we have to take care of our performance and our work because this is the only way we will have a chance to reach the final tournament,” Romania axis said.
