The initiators of this decision motivated the fact that “National Culture Day will be a day on which we celebrate not only a great creator, but also a day for reflection on Romanian culture in general and cultural projects of national interest.”

National Culture Day is celebrated in many other European countries through cultural events that pay homage to prominent figures in culture, and representatives of each country.

It is worth noting that in the Republic of Moldova, the authorities decided that the birthday of Mihai Imenscu will become the National Day of Culture.

Mihai Imenscu was a poet, prose writer, playwright and journalist, who was considered the most important poet in Roman literature. Mihai Emenscu was born on January 15, 1850 in Botosani and died on June 15, 1889 at the age of 39 in Bucharest.
