Carrefour Romania has partnered with Cărtureşti to implement a project aimed at placing book islands in retail stores in Romania, and in continuation of the French retailer’s approach to supporting Romanian businesses, according to a statement sent to the editorial office. The project takes place in 16 hypermarkets in the country, where customers can choose from a wide selection of 1,000 volumes and more than 50,000 internationally recognized titles, as well as titles belonging to some of the most famous Romanian writers.
According to the quoted source, in 2021, the project was implemented in partnership with Cărturesti in three main cities connecting important regions of the country: Montenegro – Bucharest, Moldova – Iai, Transylvania – Cluj. For the current year, the two partners have strengthened their local footprint by expanding the project nationally in two directions. Thus, depending on the size of the supermarkets, customers can choose from 250 addresses, representing small stores, and more than 1,000 addresses within large stores.
“Partnering with Cărturesti honors and strengthens our position as supporters of Romanian businesses with a strong local footprint in-store, helping us to provide our customers with a store-in-store shopping experience. In this sense, we are still from the first phase of Carrefour Romania’s CEO Julian Munch said, The partnership, we focused on its development at the national level, succeeded in reproducing the charm of Cărturesti bookstores in the 16 Carrefour supermarkets in Romania included in the project.”
Thus, Carrefour customers can access a variety of curated book titles, from fiction bookshelves, personal development to business and history titles. The presence of Cărturesti bookstores has put 16 large Carrefour stores out of the entire network of more than 370 stores open across the country at the top sales in the adult book category.
“For many years, Cărturesti has been going where it is needed. With our projects we have always tried to be where our readers are: in bookshops on the streets and shopping centers, in the capital and in as many cities as possible in the country, in the historical center, but also in Biawa Obor.We enjoy the cooperation with Carrefour, which allows us to surprise and make the day more beautiful for those who go shopping. Some of the 16 book islands in Carrefour hypermarkets give us an opportunity to meet readers from cities where we do not have open bookstores yet, which we are very pleased with We believe that food for the mind is just as important as food for the body, so the image of the everyday shopping cart where books are side by side and Anna Niculescu, Crtureşti representative, added that bread, milk, fruits and vegetables can only excite us.The book should be among the products. We hope to convince as many people as possible of this.
Among the most appreciated Roman titles is Mihai Morar and Father Nicholas, On the Meaning of Life, which tops Romanian book sales. Titles of Romanian authors, such as Neagu Djuvara, Ioana Pârvulescu, Aurelia Marinescu, or international signed by James Clear, Colleen Hoover and Walter Tevis, also recorded strong sales.
This month, Carrefour customers are invited to discover the August book: An Italian Summer by Rebecca Searle and enjoy 20% off their purchase. Moreover, during the period 09.08.2022 – 16.08.2022, customers can take advantage of the 2 + 1 gift offer. For any three books from the Cărturești collection purchased in Carrefour stores, customers will pay only two books, and the book is given at the lowest price as a gift.
