In exploring history, the methods and tools used are often important. Whether we are talking about the school system or the deepening of leisure time, an innovative approach can continually support the understanding of certain phenomena and their relationship to the present, especially through imparted values ​​and consequences.

From this perspective, an educational video game made by a team of Romanian programmers from Arad helps the educational process in educational institutions where European history or European values ​​are taught, but is also intended for Internet users who simply want to improve their general abilities. the culture.

The IT team at Predict CSD Consulting in Arad have been preparing an educational English language video game, “Spirit of Europe – Origins”, for the past two years. Within this Erasmus+ project, the partners also contributed: Millenium Center Association from Arad – Romania, Euro – Net from Italy, IDEC from Greece and Inercia Digital SL from Spain.
The game presents the story of Europe across key historical periods: Ancient Greece, Roman Empire, Migration of Peoples, Viking Age, Middle Ages, and Renaissance.

How exactly is the learning process thought of?
With the aim of developing an immersive simulation environment, generally known as a video game, in which the player travels through the history of Europe from its mythical beginnings to the present, and actively participates in key events through the history and myths that have shaped Europe today, this approach connects participants with values, as well as learning about history, myths and culture and civilization in Europe.
To access the game, participants can register and participate in the initial assessment consisting of a set of history-based questions, which they can access on the game website: https://thespiritofeurope.eu. Final evaluation will be possible after the game is completed. If they wish, participants have the option to jump straight into the game without the related registrations and ratings.

The player receives missions that take him through different eras, camps or fighters, trying to follow the course of history with peace as a core value. Among the dozens of tasks, we can embody some examples such as: the development of Athenian democracy, the golden age of Athens, the Greek reforms in terms of leadership, the development of Rome, the creation of favorable conditions for the inauguration of “Pax”. Romana” (Roman peace), migrations of various tribes, division of the Roman Empire, reforms during the reign of Charlemagne (also called Pater Europa), preparation of the treaty later known as Magna Carta, exploration of the Hanseatic League as a precursor to the European Union, development of trade and agriculture in Europe, and the beginnings of Renaissance – Dante, Boccaccio, Francis of Assisi, Thomas Aquinas, Petrarch and many others.
