Sibiu prepares for “25 hours of non-stop theater” – Ziarul Messaggerol de Sibiu

This year’s edition of the theatrical marathon “25 hours of non-stop theater”, an event that has remained unique in the Romanian cultural scene until today, this year will take place between 24 and 25 September 2022 and will be preceded by a preface, between 16 and 17 September, dedicated to young Ukrainian writers and followed by an epilogue between September 28 and October 2, 2022.

On Saturday, September 24, at 7:00 pm, Thalia Hall will host the official opening of the “25 Hours of Uninterrupted Theater” festival with the show “Proposal for Marriage”, a co-production of Bucharest Art Theater and Culture of Culture. – In Chora, with actors Florentina Nostas, George Constantinescu and Valentin Trinti, directed by Victor Oluho. The production won Best Show and Best Actor Award (George Constantinescu), at Comic 7 B – International Festival of Independent Comedy Theatre, 2016.

Expedition

For more than a decade, the organizers, BIS Association and BIS TEATRU, have not abandoned the mission of this festival: to encourage and create a meeting point for young independent artists, in the form of a marathon that is unique in the national theater scene. Year after year, the playgrounds were always full: at midnight, at midday, at sunrise. Shows, concerts, and performances were held in both classical halls, parks, plazas, gardens, bookstores, bookshops, industrial halls, and neighborhoods. The twelfth edition will focus on those independent companies that have not abandoned their mission during the period of the pandemic, and have stubbornly continued to exist, to find formulas to continue their activity. At the same time, this year’s edition will focus on the art of theater as a tool of acceptance, to include the stigmatized and marginalized.

Half marathon of readings from Ukrainian writers

The festival prelude will take place this year’s 25 hours of non-stop theater on September 16-17, 2022 and will be an integral part of the work of “Ukrainian Play World Readings”, a large-scale international project coordinated by John Friedman. Between 16 and 17 September 2022, ten young actors will read, for five hours a day, in BIS Garden, texts written by Ukrainian authors and translated by Raluca Rădulescu, in the past six months since the start of the war in the neighboring country. Public access to introduction events will be free of charge.

special edition

“What a joy, to inaugurate the festival with a supernatural comedy! In the same year that the project Cultură-n ura was awarded at the UNITER gala, we inaugurate the 12th edition of the 25-hour continuous theater festival with a symbolic performance of this project: co-production

Bucharest Art Theater – Culture-n ura. Thousands of people have praised the show in recent years in unconventional venues. Here we are, dressed up in festive attire and presenting at Sala Thalia: Saturday 24 August at 7:00pm. We are still interested in whole halls and the delight of the audience, in which performances, as usual, will be tasty and aesthetically diverse; But at the same time we are interested in how theater can improve the presence of the less fortunate. In this sense, we will continue the “Only Me” project, which includes the participation of persons with disabilities in the festival under the coordination of psychotherapist Bianca Papo. The Ferentari Association (PlayHood Project) will be part of the marathon program with a workshop performance by a group of at-risk teens, who will share the festival stage with Sibiu teens from the Fabrica de Teatru troupe. We will also target seniors in nursing homes within city limits. The theater marathon will be held in several venues in Sibiu, as well as online, on September 24-25, 2022. “(IN) DEPENDENTS” is the perfect show to conclude the 25 hours of the ongoing theater festival, because after 12 consecutive editions, the festival is devoid of any certainty. It will be held next year. How sad! How true! How (in) depends! Bogdan Surtin, founder of BIS Teatru said.
